Job summary

The Ferrars Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our team in Luton. You will supervise prepared lessons during teacher absences, ensuring learning continues and pupils understand expectations for behaviour and task completion.

We welcome applications from experienced support staff who believe they can make a positive difference to learning, and you will work in a lively, diverse environment with supportive leadership and opportunities to develop.

The Pioneer Learning Trust is a small but growing Trust of collaborative schools in Luton and Bedford. The Trust currently consists of The Ferrars Academy, Chantry Primary Academy, Southfield Primary Academy, Whitefield Primary Academy, Ferrars Junior School, Warden Hill Infant School, and Lakeview School.

We are located on the outskirts of Luton close to the M1, A5 link roads and the L&D hospital. Our 3 form entry school has a very diverse school population with a range of different languages, religions and cultures. Our children are well behaved and learn in a vibrant and friendly environment.

The Ferrars Academy is looking for an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our team. We welcome applications from experienced support staff who believe they can make a positive difference to learning by providing our children with exciting and memorable experiences. You will supervise a prepared lesson in the absence of a class teacher, ensuring that in doing so the pupils’ learning and development is continued and maintained. You will also need to have the ability to communicate the work set by the class teacher to the pupils; ensuring that they are aware of expectations for both behaviour and task completion.

You will:

• Have experience of working with children of infant school age.

This is a permanent position.

Working hours are:

Monday 8:30am - 5:00pm

Tuesday -Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm

With 1 hour for lunch, term time only (38 weeks per year).

Additional information:

Applicants for this public facing post will need to demonstrate the ability to converse and provide effective help or advice in fluently spoken English.

Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).
