Job Description:

Your Role

You’ll join Kirsty MacMillan’s Public Law and Human Rights team in Birmingham /West Midlands as a solicitor experienced in Court of Protection welfare law. You will manage your own caseload and supervise junior colleagues. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in further developing the team’s established reputation and actively participate in business development.

You’ll have the opportunity to engage with an interesting and diverse caseload from the start, playing a key part in securing justice for our clients and making a real difference in their lives. You’ll need the confidence to hit the ground running and the ability to work independently on issued cases. Given the nature of the work, you’ll work with vulnerable clients, making your role highly rewarding. However, you’ll need to be resilient and calm, always prioritising your clients' needs.

  1. Manage your own caseload while assisting Partners and senior team members.
  2. Supervise junior colleagues and potentially take on other management responsibilities.
  3. Develop relationships with appropriate groups and organisations to provide an exceptional client experience and generate new cases.
  4. Review cases and other relevant matters with your supervisor to ensure quality legal advice is provided.
About You
  1. A clear enthusiasm for this area of law and a commitment to securing the best outcomes for your clients while working under pressure.
  2. The ability to operate independently and as part of a team to deliver the best outcomes for our clients and develop other team members.
  3. An ability to work with empathy and integrity.
Our Benefits - What We Can Offer You
  1. 25 days holidays as standard plus bank holidays - You can ‘buy’ up to 35hrs of extra holiday too.
  2. Generous and flexible pension schemes.
  3. Volunteering days – Two days of volunteering every year for a cause of your choice (fully paid)
  4. Westfield Health membership, offering refunds on medical services alongside our Aviva Digital GP services.

We also offer a wide range of well-being initiatives to encourage positive mental health both in and out of the workplace and to make sure you’re fully supported. This includes our Flexible by Choice programme which gives our colleagues more choice over a hybrid way of working subject to role, team and client requirements.

We have been ranked in the Best Workplaces for Wellbeing for Large Organisations for 2024!

Our responsible business programmes are fundamental to who we are and our purpose. We’re committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace where our colleagues can flourish, and we have established a number of inclusion network groups across our business to support this aim.

Our commitment to Social Responsibility, community investment activity and tackling climate change is a fundamental part of who we are. It’s made up of four strands: Our People, Our Community, Our Environment and Our Pro Bono.
