Job summary

Warwickshire Police is seeking a Victim and Witness Care Officer to provide compassionate, timely support to victims and witnesses involved in court proceedings at Leamington Justice Centre.

The role covers contact from charge to sentencing, coordinating with Crown Prosecution Service and Her Majesty’s Courts to ensure attendance, and delivering information and third‑party support. Flexibility and IT competence are essential for handling sensitive cases daily.

Qualifications

• Educated to A level or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in a customer care environment.
• Ability to build relationships and support individuals dealing with emotional/traumatic issues.
• Good oral and written communication, including remote support.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage workload.
• Competent in IT, including Windows.

Responsibilities

• Act as contact point for victim and witnesses from charge through sentencing with timely information.
• Provide enhanced level of care from not guilty plea as per the Victims Code.
• Ensure risk assessments are completed and shared with partner agencies.
• Liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service and HM Courts and Tribunal Service to facilitate attendance.
• Provide victims with information about third party support.
• Support specialist Local Policing and Protective Services units as directed.
• Maintain information on IT systems in compliance with data protection principles.
• Provide updates to victims through available channels.
• Review and suggest service improvements.
• Undertake other duties as required.
• Comply with Health and Safety policy.
