Job summary

First Choice Staff is sourcing 7 Courier Van Drivers for a leading international Freight Forwarder in Basildon on a temporary basis during a peak period, starting mid-October. The role covers daily deliveries and collections with a focus on service excellence and professional conduct.

You will deliver and collect shipments, maintain vehicle safety, and record hours accurately while upholding company standards. Overtime on Saturdays may apply.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence.
• C1 (7.5 Tonne) Licence preferred.
• Digital Tachograph Card, or willingness to obtain one.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Physically fit and capable of handling shipments safely in line with manual handling procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Previous courier, delivery or logistics experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Complete multiple daily deliveries and collections of various shipment types, sizes and weights.
• Provide outstanding customer service during every customer interaction.
• Accurately record working and driving hours in line with transport regulations.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and ensure loads are secured correctly.
• Follow all company driving standards, policies and procedures.
• Sort and prioritise workloads to ensure all delivery commitments are met.
• Collect and process cash-on-delivery payments where required.
• Maintain high standards of safety, security and compliance.
• Adhere to customs, import and export procedures where applicable.
• Report any potential security concerns or breaches to management.
• Identify and communicate potential business development opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with the service centre team to achieve operational targets.

Courier Van Drivers - 7 Positions Available

Temporary Assignment | £14.73 per hour | Basildon

Our client, a leading international Freight Forwarder, is currently seeking 7 Courier Van Drivers to join their team on a temporary basis during their busy peak period, starting mid-October.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established logistics business, delivering exceptional service while working within a professional and fast-paced environment.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday: 9:00am - 7:00pm
• 1 hour unpaid lunch break
• Overtime available on Saturdays

Pay Rate

£14.73 per hour

The Role

Insurance Requirements

Be aged 25 years or over.

To comply with Drivers Negligence insurance, the successful applicant will need to be 25 years or older, have at least 180 days driving experience in this class of vehicle in the last 2 years

Successful applicants will be required to complete:

• A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
• Five years of employment/reference history checks.
