Job description

The Counterbalance FLT Driver position in Tadcaster, LS24 involves operating a forklift within a well-known manufacturing and logistics site. Our globally recognised client is actively expanding its operations team and is now recruiting experienced FLT Operators to support continued growth at this flagship site. Working full-time on a temporary basis, you will handle materials efficiently and safely across the facility. Previous counterbalance experience is necessary, though expired or in-house licences are acceptable for those returning to forklift operations. Your weekly rota, confirmed each Thursday, will cover three to five days or nights, with twelve-hour shifts from either 06:00 to 18:00 or 18:00 to 06:00. Adaptability regarding shift times is essential.

Main Details

• Hourly Rate: £14.41 per hour (Monday to Friday)
• Enhanced Rate: £19.48 per hour (Friday after 10pm – Until Sunday 10pm)
• Location: Tadcaster, LS24
• Working Pattern: 3–5 days or nights per week (rota issued weekly in advance on Thursdays)
• Shift Pattern: 12-hour Shifts 06:00am - 18:00pm / 18:00pm - 06:00am

The Role

You will be operating a counterbalance forklift in a fast-paced manufacturing and logistics environment, maintaining the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and efficiency. The role involves the use of counterbalance trucks fitted with clamp attachments to handle goods safely and securely. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the movement of materials using counterbalance equipment between production areas, storage locations, and loading docks, ensuring smooth operational flow at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading goods and deliveries

• Transporting raw materials to production workstations
• Identifying and reporting damages, shortages, and quality issues

Requirements & Skills

• Previous experience as an FLT / Forklift Operator
• Experience operating counterbalance forklifts preferred
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Good understanding of industrial equipment
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual tasks
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Valid or expired FLT licence considered
• Strong time-management and communication skills
• Reliable, team-focused, and safety-driven approach
