Brockenhurst College in the New Forest region is seeking a Counselling Tutor for evening classes from September 2026. The role is paid on a claims basis at £32.35–£43.03 per hour DOE, with unqualified teachers receiving £25.64–£32.35 per hour DOE.

You will deliver level 4 counselling units to adults, mark registers, and work with the Head of Adult Learning on recruitment and curriculum planning. A focus on inclusive learning and ongoing professional development is essential.

Competenze

• Qualified Level 4 counselling/psychotherapy or related Level 4 qualification is required.
• Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards it is essential.
• Minimum 3 years of counselling experience in a professional setting.
• Experience teaching or a desire to teach adults.
• Evidence of innovative teaching/learning techniques.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Counselling Tutor (evening classes, from September 2026) to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team based in Brockenhurst. You will be working on a claims basis and in return, you will receive a salary of £32.35 to £43.03 per hour DOE and qualifications (Unqualified Teachers £25.64 to £32.35 per hour DOE). You will be engaged to deliver specific counselling units as required and due to the nature of the role, work will be offered in blocks of delivery linked to curriculum needs.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 3,000 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the level 4 Counselling Course to Adults as agreed with the Head of Adult Learning
• Mark registers and provide documentation in line with College policies
• Work closely with the Head of Adult Learning particularly with regards to the recruitment, monitoring
• Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning
• Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of curriculum
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments and research in Counselling
• Promote the sharing of good practice in the development of teaching methods and strategies.
• Participate in the College's Lesson Observation Scheme.
• Participate in staff development and training
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge through continuing professional development and College training days

Qualifications

• Level 4 Counselling/Psychotherapy or related L4 qualification
• Teaching qualification or be willing to work towards alongside your role
• Extensive experience as Counsellor with a minimum of 3 years in the role,
• Experience of teaching and/or a desire to teach adults
• Evidence of knowledge and/or experience of innovative teaching and learning techniques
• Mentoring and supporting team members
• Knowledge and understanding of current developments in Counselling/Psychotherapy
• Knowledge of appropriate methods of involving students in feedback on their programmes
