British Business Bank plc is seeking a legal professional to provide in-house support on contentious matters across its activities. You will collaborate with product teams, risk and governance functions to manage litigation, regulatory challenges and disputes.

The role emphasizes advisory support, governance engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including HM Treasury and UKGI, and delivering commercially aware legal guidance from a financial services perspective.

Formación

• 5+ years PQE in contentious matters.
• Experience advising on litigation in financial services.
• FOIA experience is advantageous.
• In-house or private practice background preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide legal support on contentious matters across the Bank.
• Advise Product Teams, Risk, Compliance with commercially aware advice.

THE ROLE

This is an opportunity to provide legal support to the British Business Bank on contentious matters arising across its business activities. Working closely with product teams, information governance, risk and colleagues across the wider Legal and Corporate Governance team, you will help the Bank respond effectively to litigation, potential legal challenges and disputes.

The role involves advising on contentious matters across the Bank, including litigation, potential legal challenges and dispute management. It also includes supporting governance and escalation processes with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, including DBT, HM Treasury and UKGI, while providing practical, commercially aware legal advice in an in-house financial services context.

Legal input and advice may be provided to Product Teams, Senior Management, Risk and Compliance, Local Growth, Policy, Strategy and Economics, Finance and Procurement as required.

We are looking for legal experience broadly equivalent to at least five years’ PQE, although applications are welcome from candidates with fewer years’ PQE who can demonstrate the required skills, experience and competencies.

Experience advising on contentious matters within a litigation or regulatory team is important, ideally with financial services knowledge. FOIA experience, and experience providing legal support directly to business leads in-house or in private practice, would be an advantage.
