Thompsons Solicitors in London is seeking an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join our National Costs Department. You will manage a varied personal injury costs caseload, prepare Bills of Costs, Statements of Costs (N260s), and Costs Budgets, and negotiate for strong recovery outcomes.

You'll work with fee earners to advance costs matters from start to finish, stay abreast of CPR costs rules, and contribute to efficient assessment and hearings while maintaining precise diary management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience managing your own personal injury costs caseload.
• Strong knowledge of Fast Track and Multi Track costs recovery processes.
• Experience drafting Bills of Costs and conducting negotiations on costs matters.
• Good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and costs-related case law.

Responsibilities

• Managing your own caseload of personal injury costs matters from start to finish
• Preparing Formal Bills of Costs, Statements of Costs (N260s), Estimates and Costs Budgets (Precedent H)
• Negotiating and settling costs claims to achieve the best possible recovery
• Drafting Replies to Points of Dispute and assisting with Detailed Assessment proceedings
• Advising fee earners on costs recovery prospects and strategy
• Preparing and coordinating assessment bundles and instructing advocates where required
• Attending Detailed Assessment and other costs-related hearings
• Maintaining accurate diary management and ensuring court deadlines are met
• Working collaboratively with fee earners and colleagues to maximise costs recovery across the firm
