Job summary

Express Solicitors, a Manchester-based personal injury law firm, seeks a Costs Draftsperson to support the costs department. You will draft formal bills and N260s, work to deadlines, and liaise with case handlers.

Ideal candidates have 2–10 years in costs drafting, familiarity with Proclaim and Costs Master, and strong attention to detail in fast and multi-track cases. Hybrid working is available after probation; join a growing, award-winning team with training opportunities and clear career

Qualifications

• 2 to 10 years' drafting experience in the claimant personal injury sector.
• Legal qualification (LLB, GDL, or LPC) desirable.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Drafting skills for Precedent H, R and Q and drafting final bills in Multi Track and budgeted cases.
• Ability to work to target and handle pressure in a team.
• Knowledge of time recording procedures.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Dept Head and Line Manager.
• Working to WIP target.
• Drafting work to estimated completion dates set by supervisor.
• Drafting formal bills for inter partes detailed assessment.
• Drafting N260 statements of costs.
• Preparing risk assessments.
• Preparing Part 8 proceedings for issue.
• Investigating all disbursement liabilities.
• Accurately reviewing the client ledger and accounts information.
• Completing Work Check lists.
• Preparing Precedent S and Q documents.
• Commencing Detailed Assessment proceedings on approved work.
