Job summary

Fusion People Ltd is seeking a Cost Manager for a hybrid role based in Mansfield. The position focuses on developing initial cost estimates for construction projects and evaluating tender submissions to ensure value.

You will produce monthly cost forecasts and monitor variances against budgets. Key responsibilities include managing Compensation Events within NEC contracts, reviewing AFPs, and leveraging cost data for benchmarking and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction cost estimation and tender analysis.
• Understanding of NEC contract delivery and compensation events (CEs).
• Ability to produce and maintain monthly cost forecasts and track variances.

COST MANAGER

Location - Mansfield (Hybrid - 2 days in the office)
Day rate - £348 via umbrella
Initial duration - 6 months
IR35: Inside

Required experience: construction / NEC project delivery / cost estimation / QS and analysing tender process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and develop initial cost estimates for construction projects, providing accurate forecasts from project inception.


• Analyse and evaluate tender submissions, assessing pricing structures and overall value for construction projects.


• Produce and maintain monthly cost forecasts, comparing contractor projections against project budgets and identifying variances.


• Assess and manage Compensation Events (CEs) within an NEC contract environment, ensuring accurate cost control and compliance.


• Review and evaluate Applications for Payment (AFP), providing recommendations for approval or challenge where appropriate.


• Identify, analyse and utilise quality cost data from completed projects to support benchmarking, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives.
