Job summary

Fusion People Ltd is seeking a Cost Manager for a 6-month assignment in Mansfield, operating on a hybrid basis (2 days in the office). The role pays a day rate of £348 via umbrella and falls Inside IR35.

Key duties include preparing initial cost estimates, evaluating tenders, and managing cost forecasts throughout the project. The ideal candidate will have construction experience with NEC project delivery, cost estimation, and tender analysis, backed by Quantity Surveying expertise.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction cost management and NEC contract environments.
• Proficiency in cost estimation and tender analysis.
• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in NEC projects; familiarity with contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop initial cost estimates for construction projects, providing accurate forecasts from project inception.
• Analyse and evaluate tender submissions, assessing pricing structures and overall value for construction projects.
• Produce and maintain monthly cost forecasts, comparing contractor projections against project budgets and identifying variances.
• Assess and manage Compensation Events (CEs) within an NEC contract environment, ensuring accurate cost control and compliance.
• Review and evaluate Applications for Payment (AFP), providing recommendations for approval or challenge where appropriate.
• Identify, analyse and utilise quality cost data from completed projects to support benchmarking, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives.
