Amentum is recruiting a Cost Engineer to support UK nuclear project portfolios with hybrid working across Knutsford or Warrington offices. You will work with Subject Matter Experts and Operations Managers, handling cost, risk and resource planning across multiple frameworks to deliver compliant, value-driven outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of HNC/HND in engineering or related experience.
• Good working knowledge of financial systems.
• Broad experience across the project lifecycle: engineering, procurement, construction, installation/commissioning.
• Understand time-cost and commercial aspects of the lifecycle.
• Ability to reconcile cost information for programmes.
• Proficient in estimating, scheduling and risk tools.
• Communicate well at all levels and produce monthly reports.
• Establish WBS and project baselines per processes.
• Challenge where needed to ensure compliance.
• Maintain project baselines and adherence to guidance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage framework projects to include risk, change, resource requirements and cost per Amentum standards.
• Lead cost management activities for major frameworks across the Energy Division.
• Coordinate with SMEs, Operations Managers and Framework Service teams.
• Operate in highly regulated environments with safety culture.
• Communicate clearly and produce intelligent information for monthly reviews.

About The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Cost Engineer to support key project deliverables across our nuclear project portfolio and this is where you come in. If you’re familiar with project delivery, you’ll know that they have plenty of moving parts and complexity, which is why you’ll be working alongside our Subject Matter Experts, Operations Managers and with our Framework Service team too. This role will support hybrid working across our Knutsford or Warrington offices.

• The position is accountable to the Project Controls Manager and are responsible to develop & manage framework project to incorporate risk, change, resource requirements and cost in accordance with Amentum requirements and Standards.
• The role will be responsible for leading the cost management activities for our major frameworks for our key clients across the Energy Division. This role has no direct reports.
• The role can be based at any of our UK Amentum Office and may require from time to time, business travel to UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible.
• Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture.
• Good communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused with a team-centred approach.

Here’s What You’ll Need

• Minimum of HNC/HND ideally in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience.
• Good working knowledge of financial systems.
• Breadth of experience across whole project and programme lifecycle. e.g. Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning.
• Understand the inter-relationship between time cost and commercial aspects of the project life cycle.
• The ability to reconcile cost information as it applies to the programmes of work.
• Proficient in the use of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools.
• Ability to communicate well at all levels of management, produce monthly reports, to an agreed reporting cycle, to provision of intelligent information.
• Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to determine time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget.
• Able to establish robust Work Breakdown and Project Control Structures in terms of project scope, in accordance with Investment Delivery processes, templates and Procedures.
• Experienced to challenge as necessary to ensure compatibility and compliance.
• Knowledge to maintain and control project baselines in line with company procedures and guidance.
• Ability to communicate well at all levels of management and can produce monthly reports, to an agreed reporting cycle, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis.
