Job summary

Mace is seeking a skilled professional in cost and commercial management to join their team in Greater London. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, managing cost planning, and ensuring contracts are negotiated effectively.

Knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts and industry best practices is required. Candidates with a degree in quantity surveying and a commitment to safety and client service are encouraged to apply.

Job description

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports. Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
• Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
• Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
• Representing Mace to clients, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages.
• Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
• Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.

You’ll Need To Have

• Previous experience working in a cost and commercial management position for a construction consultancy. (Preferred, not essential)
• Knowledge of MEP and experience working in multiple sectors.
• JCT/NEC form of contract experience essential.
• Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
• Knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
• Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on Contract Administration
• Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.
• Understanding of industry best practice.
• Understanding of hot topic issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, Carbon Reduction impacting Public Sector.
• Capex V Opex Cost Analysis/advice.
• A degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent.
• Professional membership i.e., MRICS/RICS. (Preferred)
