Job summary

Mace is delivering cost consultancy and project controls for complex, live environments in central London. The role collaborates with clients, consultants and internal teams to drive cost accuracy and value across multi-disciplinary projects.

The successful candidate will bring NEC experience, MRICS membership and a track record in cost planning, budgeting and risk management within public or private sector infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost consultancy in a similar role.
• NEC contract experience is essential; NEC PM accreditation preferred.
• Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
• Experience managing people and risk management.
• Knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
• Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.
• Understanding of sustainability, social value and carbon reduction in the public sector.
• MRICS/RICS membership.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, advise on procurement strategies and contract selection; apply value management.
• Manage, estimate and cost plan; present the final cost plan.
• Ensure final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
• Act as key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all stages.
• Handle contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures and templates.
• Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes.

Our client requires strong commercial management that supports the Authority in its role of delivering modern workplace solutions, unique projects and complex programmes of work.

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports. Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
• Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
• Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
• Being a key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages.
• Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
• Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.
• Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.

You’ll Need To Have

• Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.
• Previous experience working with private and public sector property and infrastructure clients beneficial.
• NEC form of contract experience essential. NEC PM accreditation preferred.
• Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
• Previous experience of managing people and risk management.
• Knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
• Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on contract administration
• Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.
• Strong understanding of industry best practice.
• Understanding of hot topic issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, Carbon Reduction impacting public sector.
• Capex V Opex Cost Analysis/advice.
• A degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent.
• Professional membership i.e. MRICS/RICS.
