Job description

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, cost specialists and industrialisation experts, the role will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed cost breakdowns, developing cost models and processing cost data into a presentable format for senior decision makers.

The role will entail the preparation of reports to capture supply chain feedback, and integrate that supplier intelligence accurately within cost models, cost plans and product selection assessments.

The role will require collaborative working across a national programme and will require a strong understanding of healthcare project delivery, including the cost and performance implications of relevant health technical memoranda and health building notes.

You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Conducting comprehensive cost analysis across the products, including developing related product documents and contributing to digital initiatives.
  • Identifying and quantifying opportunities for cost efficiencies and savings through procurement route analysis and detailed cost modelling.
  • Developing cost bases for industrialisation options, including enhancements to existing tools or new tooling solutions.
  • Collaborating with product leads to understand cost and performance drivers and recording areas for optimisation.
  • Supporting the evaluation of commercial and procurement strategies, including common components and MEP procurement, to ensure value for money.
  • Advising on funding models and high-level principles of implementation for procurement and architecture integration from a cost perspective.
  • Providing cost and commercial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making regarding industrialisation initiatives.
  • Providing cost advice to acquisitions teams to enable prioritisation of key products through optimised procurement strategies.
  • Interfacing with pre-contract cost and commercial management and estimating teams to enable cross-collaboration with the Industrialisation team.
  • Analysing supply chain costs, including logistics, manufacturing, and supplier relationships, to identify areas for efficiency gains.
You’ll Need To Have
  • Experience operating in a delivery partner/infrastructure programme environment with multiple directorates and functions to engage.
  • Alliance procurement/contracting.
  • Major programme mobilisation.
  • Strong understanding of Industrialisation principles and related terms, including modern methods of construction (MMC), design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), or offsite manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with supply chain partners.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience working on healthcare or hospital construction projects.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., chartered engineer, membership of a relevant professional body).
  • Understanding of supply chain management and integration in an industrialised construction context.
