A globally recognised business in Bath are looking to appoint a Cost Accountant to join their team.
Your new role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Cost Accountant will take full ownership of standard costing, partnering closely with Supply Chain, Operations and Finance to bring clarity to produce costing, stock values and material usage.
• Analysis of standard gross margin by product to provide insight and aid decision-making in partnership with the business
• Maintaining standard costs for material and direct costs, including labour and overhead absorption.
• Variance analysis against all standard costs within full absorption costing
• Monitor BoM variances, driving integrity and accuracy.
• Business partner inventory reviews to ensure risk areas are highlighted whilst aligning to working capital targets.
• Review & forecasting of monthly inventory movement including raw materials, WIP and Finished Goods.
• Preparation of labour actual cost, standards & assumptions.
• Analysis and reporting of labour efficiency to management to drive improvements.
• Preparation of detailed business forecasts and budgets and variance reporting against them.
• Proactively drive development of ERP integrity as a foundation to strategic decision-making & performance review.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will be either actively pursuing a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) or already fully qualified. Strong IT proficiency is essential, with advanced skills in Excel and SharePoint being particularly important.In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following qualities:
