Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is an exciting time for NHSGGC, as we implement our new ambitious ‘Transforming Together’ strategy to support Health & Social Care Reform. The Corporate Planning Team has a rare opportunity for a motivated individual with either strategic or operational planning experience to work closely with the depute director of planning to lead a corporate planning portfolio of work.

We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds with a proven track record in planning/strategy work whether from the public sector or consultancy background. Healthcare/NHS experience is a plus but not essential. You might already be in an operational / managerial role or looking to step into your next planning position.

Main duties of the job

Role

You will contribute to the strategic direction of NHSGGC by providing leadership in corporate planning and strategy delivery, providing specialist expertise and leadership in continuously developing, implementing, and reviewing effective corporate planning across the Board. You will be experienced in developing planning frameworks ensuring principles of good governance are embedded. The role will lead and support:

  • The development and production of the Annual Delivery Plan for the Board
  • The Winter Operational Planning process & development of the Winter plan
  • Pan GGC projects including bed modelling and demand and capacity modelling for services,
  • Leading specific pan GGC & Whole system projects as directed by Director and Depute Director of Planning and supporting the establishment of the new Interface Care Division.

You will also be responsible for leading and developing the Planning Officer team and planning oversight and support to the Realistic Medicine Project Manager.

This role will require someone to work independently across the organisation and with our leaders and teams to support and manage the ongoing development and delivery of the Board Strategies and associated work programmes.

This is a unique opportunity to develop your career working within a dynamic department supporting NHSGGC with an ambitious programme of transformation and change.
