Senior Insolvency Manager / Director

Location: Manchester

Imperium Financial Recruitment is working with a well-established firm of Corporate Recovery Specialists in Manchester to recruit an experienced Senior Insolvency Manager or Director.

This is an opportunity for a senior corporate insolvency professional to take a leading role in overseeing complex assignments, developing a team and supporting the continued growth of the firm. The position can be tailored to reflect the successful candidate's experience and level of responsibility.

The Role

You will oversee a portfolio of corporate insolvency and recovery assignments, providing technical guidance and ensuring cases progress efficiently and to a high professional standard. Working closely with the firm's senior leadership, you will also contribute to client relationships, team performance and business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee a varied portfolio of corporate insolvency assignments, including liquidations, administrations and other recovery matters.
• Manage complex cases, providing practical guidance on case strategy, investigations, asset realisations and distributions.
• Supervise and develop managers, administrators and junior team members.
• Review statutory reports, case documentation and financial information to maintain quality and compliance.
• Monitor case progression, deadlines, budgets, work in progress and fee recovery.
• Build strong relationships with directors, creditors, solicitors, accountants and other stakeholders.
• Support pre-appointment discussions, helping assess circumstances and identify appropriate options.
• Work closely with Insolvency Practitioners on technical issues and significant case decisions.
• Contribute to improvements in procedures, systems and service delivery.
• Support business development through professional networking and referral relationships.

At Director level, the role will include a greater focus on departmental leadership, commercial strategy, developing introducer relationships and winning new work.

About You

• Substantial experience in corporate insolvency, with a proven track record at Manager, Senior Manager or Director level.
• Strong technical knowledge and experience overseeing complex corporate insolvency assignments.
• Demonstrable leadership skills, with the ability to support, motivate and develop a team.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive stakeholder discussions.
• Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of case profitability and resource management.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to oversee competing priorities.
• A proactive approach to relationship building and business development.
• CPI or JIEB qualifications would be advantageous. Any requirement for an Insolvency Practitioner licence will depend on the agreed scope of the position.
