Job description

Our journey from start-up to global leader in industrial Carbon Capture

Carbon Clean has been developing and providing carbon capture solutions since around 2009. Over the years, we have grown our expertise and technology, including the Cyclone CC system, to help industries reduce carbon emissions more efficiently. In the next phase of our growth, we are seeking an impactful Corporate Development Manager

Location (London) | Competitive + Incentive Awards tied to your performance + Benefits

The Role

The Corporate Development Manager will support Carbon Clean's capital formation and inorganic growth activities, contributing to funding rounds, strategic partnerships, and investment decisions. You will translate complex and incomplete information into rigorous financial and investment cases, supporting the VP, Corporate Development and the executive team with high-quality analysis and insight. The role manages core corporate finance work including financial analysis, project and transaction modelling, and product-level unit economics, while also supporting FP&A with modelling and scenario analysis, and Legal with shareholder analysis.

Success in this role will be defined by the quality, clarity, and reliability of financial analysis supporting capital raising and strategic decisions, and the efficient execution of funding and transaction processes.

Role Focus (First 6–12 Months):
  • 50–60%: Capital raising, investor materials, diligence, financial modelling
  • 25–30%: Corporate finance frameworks, LCOC, scenario modelling
  • 10–20%: Partnerships and strategy support

Responsibilities consist of but not limited to...

Corporate Development Execution (Funding, Strategy & Transactions)
  • Execute corporate development initiatives across funding, strategy, and transactions.
  • Prepare high-quality investor, board, and transaction materials (IMs, presentations, supporting analysis).
  • Support funder relationships by tracking inbound interest, mapping mandates, and informing engagement strategy.
  • Co-develop investment cases across financing structures, partnerships, and M&A opportunities.
  • Manage data rooms and coordinate internal/external diligence processes.
  • Partner with external advisers (banks, legal, consultants) on models, structures, and financing vehicles.
  • Lead M&A and selective inorganic analysis, including valuation, diligence, and clear recommendation synthesis.
Corporate Finance, Analysis & Modelling Excellence
  • Build robust, defensible financial models across projects, transactions, and products with clear assumptions.
  • Enhance modelling efficiency, automation, and data quality across Corporate Development.
  • Provide analytical input to levelised costs, corporate planning, and strategic decision-making.
  • Support broader modelling needs (planning, opportunity evaluation, JV analysis, proposition modelling).
  • Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
Portfolio Advancement & Partnership Development
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain a deep understanding of project and opportunity pipelines.
  • Identify and support partnerships across the value chain (transport, sequestration, utilisation).
  • Build relationships across the ecosystem (banks, infrastructure/transition funds, industry partners).
  • Support development of long-term roadmaps and investment recommendations for executives.
Team Contribution & Leadership
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and quality review across team outputs.
  • Coordinate workstreams across analysts and associates while maintaining a strong individual contribution (~70–80%).
  • Build strong internal relationships and organisational trust.
You are an ideal candidate if…
  • You have a background in corporate development, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity/infrastructure, or transactional FP&A, with direct exposure to funding, transactions, or strategic analysis.
  • You have experience in energy transition, industrials, or infrastructure; exposure to carbon capture or decarbonisation economics is advantageous.
  • You have a strong understanding of capital raising processes, including investor materials, diligence coordination, and working with external advisers.
  • You have advanced financial modelling capability across project and corporate finance, including scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • You can translate complex or incomplete data into structured, decision-ready insights.
  • You have a strong grasp of project economics, key value drivers, and cost curves (e.g., LCOC) for capital-intensive sectors.
  • You're comfortable working with large, imperfect datasets and forming robust assumptions; experience with data tools (including generative AI) is a plus.
  • You have experience supporting M&A, joint ventures, partnerships, or other inorganic growth initiatives, including valuation and diligence.
  • You're familiar engaging with investment banks, legal counsel, and consultants through transaction or funding processes.
  • You're a clear and structured communicator, able to distil analysis into executive-level insights.
  • You're highly organised, capable of managing multiple workstreams with competing priorities.
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA, CFA, CPA, or equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.

The application journey has 4 key steps

  1. Recruiter call (initial 30 mins conversation)
  2. Initial conversation with a Team member (30–45 mins)
  3. Technical interview with another Team member (1 hour)
  4. Final stage with the VP, Corporate Development and People team member, consisting of a case study, role-specific interview, and culture fit interview (2 hours)

This process should take around 3–4 weeks - your schedule is really important to us, so we promise to be as flexible as possible!
