Tata Steel Port Talbot is recruiting a Senior Sourcing Lead to manage end-to-end procurement for goods and services across a multi-billion supply chain. The role entails negotiating with suppliers, developing robust contract management, and aligning purchases with Tata Steel’s sustainability values.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, support tendering, and deliver professional procurement services.

Qualifications

• Strong background in procurement, especially buying consultancy, legal and temporary labour services.
• Excellent knowledge of procurement practice and the sourcing process cycle.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good IT literacy with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Support the team to manage a multi-billion supply chain globally.

Are you an experienced procurement professional?

Do you have experience purchasing consultancy, legal and/or labour services?

Are you based in or around Port Talbot?

We have an initially temporary Senior Sourcing Lead role available with Tata Steel's Port Talbot works. The successful applicant will be an individual who has proven experience delivering a supply chain of commercially sound goods, materials and services within a multi layered organisation. If you enjoy managing the sourcing process from end to end and thrive on negotiation this role could be for you!

Location: Tata Steel, Port Talbot, SA13 2NG

This role is office based with remote working X2 days per week after training

Rate: Competitive and dependent upon experience (inside IR35)

Contract length: 12 months initially with the view to extend, or offer a permanent position

Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 36.5 hours per week. Mon-Thu 08:30-16:45 and Fri 08:30-15:45

The opportunity for a 07:30am start is available if preferred

Start: ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment. This does involve a drug and alcohol test.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting the team to manage a multi billion supply chain globally
• Negotiating with vendors and suppliers to achieve maximum value and lowest possible cost base
• Helping to achieve a commercially robust management for goods, services and materials
• Sourcing goods, materials and services for Tata Steel that align to Tata's sustainability values
• Working with Senior Management to ensure the security of goods, materials and services and minimal disruption to business operations
• Developing, deploying and executing UK commercial contracts
• Supporting with the tendering process
• Conducting market research to ensure appropriate route to market and fit for purpose supply base
• Delivering a professional procurement service to the business
• Liaising with stakeholders internally and externally face to face, over the telephone, virtually and over email

• Creating strong business partnerships and being the 'go to' for commercial advice, guidance and support with challenges
• Using SAP and MS office (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, sharepoint) daily

Essential requirements:

• Strong background within Procurement, specifically the buying of consultancy, legal and temporary labour services
• Driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to the size and nature of the site)
• Excellent knowledge of procurement practice and the sourcing process cycle
• Strong verbal and written communication skill
• Good IT literacy, especially with MS office including Word, Outlook, teams and Excel
• SAP experience would be an advantage
• Sound numeracy skill

• Capability of using own initiative and applying a proactive approach to tasks
