Job summary

Lincolnshire County Council is seeking a compassionate Coroners Officer for our Lincoln office, supporting bereaved families across the Greater Lincolnshire area. You will work with doctors, police, mortuary staff and funeral directors to gather information and help investigations, ensuring care and respect in every case.

The role features hybrid working, requires clear communication, organisation under pressure, and willingness to travel across the county.

Qualifications

• Clear communication and empathy when supporting bereaved families.
• Organised, calm under pressure, able to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
• Confident using record management systems and willing to learn new tools.

Responsibilities

• Support bereaved families with empathy and provide clear information about the coronial process.
• Collaborate with doctors, police, mortuary staff, pathologists, and funeral directors to gather information and support investigations.
• Manage case files, arrange post-mortems, and prepare for inquests ensuring compliance with legislation and sensitivity.
• Take part in the out-of-hours rota to provide support after deaths in the community.
• Mentor and support new team members in the role.
