Job summary

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Coroner Service is seeking a Coroners Officer to join a supportive team. You will manage investigations into sudden deaths, act as main contact for bereaved families, medical professionals, police and partners, ensuring investigations progress efficiently and sensitively.

Responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of coronial investigations from initial report through to conclusion.
• Gathering information and evidence from police, healthcare professionals and witnesses.
• Liaising with doctors regarding causes of death and coronial requirements.
• Arranging and coordinating post-mortem examinations and identification procedures.
• Providing advice, guidance and support to bereaved families throughout the coronial process.
• Preparing files and evidence for inquests and supporting the Coroner during court proceedings.
• Working closely with funeral directors, Medical Examiners, hospitals, care providers and other partner organisations.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the service and supporting colleagues across the team.
