Job summary

The City of Bristol College invites applications for a laboratory technician based in the Biomedical Sciences Laboratories. You will be part of a core technical team supporting laboratories across the Schools of Psychology and Neuroscience, Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, and the Bristol Medical School.

You will perform essential core tasks, support health and safety activities, and contribute to world-class research by assisting scientists and maintaining lab spaces and equipment.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict SOPs and regulatory procedures.
• Willingness to be physically active, hands-on, and work as part of a team in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Waste collection and recycling management on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
• Relocating and connecting gas cylinders and ensuring gas cylinder supplies.
• Maintaining equipment, organising repairs and assisting with lab equipment moves.
• Helping to prepare lab spaces and culture media for bacteria and fruit flies.
• Managing stocks, ordering consumables and answering emails.
