Job summary

Milver Metals in the UK seeks a skilled trader to grow purchases of non-ferrous scrap metals in the East Midlands, with a focus on copper, and assume commercial responsibility for the non-ferrous trading yard. The candidate will work with Milver’s range of copper alloys and ingots, including brass and gunmetal, with potential to expand into alloy trading.

Qualifications

• Substantiated track record trading non-ferrous scrap metals.
• Experience with copper alloys is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Buying metal into the trading yard from other merchant suppliers and maintaining relationships with repeat suppliers.
• Developing a low-cost supply chain by getting as close to the scrap source as possible.
• Target purchases of 300-400T non-ferrous material per month, mainly from East Midlands (Coventry, Leicester, Northampton).
• Aggregating and arranging sale of metal from the trading yard to trade outlets, domestic and foreign, including AMC Group.
• Identifying and grading incoming materials and liaising with suppliers on weight/quality claims and outlet routing.
• Leading the yard team regarding storage, processing and grading ready for despatch or foundry melting.
• Taking commercial responsibility for stock control.
• Liaising with production staff to ensure correct quality/grade of material.
