Job summary

Cardiff Education Catering is seeking a Cook in Charge for Llanishen Fach Primary School. You will manage all catering facility activities, cook to a high standard, and ensure safety, hygiene and quality across services for pupils during term time.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability, with DBS checks and safeguarding responsibilities in line with council policies. You will work within the Education & Lifelong Learning department, on a part-time permanent term-time

Cardiff Education Catering operates a service to circa 120 Secondary, Primary, and Special schools in Cardiff through 500 staff producing around 4 million meals per annum, providing breakfast, lunch and therapeutic diets for pupils, vending services and occasion catering for business meetings.

About the job

The Cook in Charge will be responsible for managing all aspects of the business and service activities in the catering facility.

The applicant will be required to work term time only, be able to demonstrate the ability to cook to a high standard, have good communication skills and help with all aspects of the business, working in accordance with health, safety & hygiene legislation.

Additional information

Actual Salary: £17,293 per annum. This salary is based on working 27.5 hours per week and 39 weeks per year, rather than a full-time role of 37 hours per week and 52 weeks per year.

Please note: The salary shown assumes a start date of 1 September. If you start after 1 September, your salary for your first school year will be lower than the amount shown above because you will work fewer weeks.

Appointment to this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a Child Workforce Barred List check.
