For almost 70 years, Abbeyfield Living Society has been a leading provider of housing and care for older people across England. We're dedicated to tackling housing challenges and ensuring that older people have a place to call home within a caring community, and we know it starts with an exceptional team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who would be interested in joining our organisation, to support our Sheltered Housing property in Bourton on the Water. If you are looking for a rewarding role to fit around you, Abbeyfield would love for you to join us.

You can never underestimate the power a friendly face and a home cooked meal has on someone’s day. This is a varied role, with resident wellbeing at the forefront of what we do.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Confidence in cooking for up to 9 people
  • Strong organizational skills, ready to handle a variety of tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills with a genuine understanding of the needs of older people
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook and Excel experience is a plus, but full training will be provided)

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

About the Role:

At Abbeyfield, our goal is to create a warm, community-focused environment where residents feel valued and respected. As a Cook and Resident Support team member, you’ll ensure that residents enjoy wholesome, home-cooked meals while also being a friendly face they can turn to for support. You’ll also assist with general wellbeing, handle any issues that arise, and escalate them when needed.

Basic computer and budget management skills are helpful, but full support and training will be provided by our welcoming team.

Why Join Abbeyfield?

We’re committed to recognising and rewarding our team members. Working with us comes with a range of benefits, including:

  • Annual Leave: 25 days, increasing to 28 days after 5 years of service, plus public holidays.
  • Growth & Development: Comprehensive induction and career development opportunities.
  • Competitive Pay: Benchmark-based and with progression opportunities.
  • Health & Wellbeing: Medicash support, Employee Assistance Programme, and discounted gym membership.
  • Financial Rewards: £500 refer-a-friend scheme, life assurance, and company pension.
  • Exclusive Discounts: BenefitHub and Blue Light Card discounts for social care sector workers.
  • Additional Perks: Occupational sick pay, cycle-to-work scheme, and more.

Please note this role will require eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and a basic DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Abbeyfield. You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may result in an offer of employment being revoked.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a sufficient number of applications. We encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
