Job summary

Agincare is seeking a Cook for a care home in Wakefield. The role involves menu planning with residents, ensuring dietary requirements are met, and managing day-to-day kitchen operations.

Shifts are two 8-hour blocks per week (7:00–15:00) on a rotating two-week schedule. The successful candidate will have kitchen experience, and knowledge of dietary frameworks is desirable.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 months on your right to work.
• Background within kitchens and understanding of how to run a professional kitchen.
• Knowledge of the IDDSI framework or supporting complex dietary requirements is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Menu planning in collaboration with the home manager and residents' requests to develop and implement menu ideas.
• Understand and meet residents' nutritional and dietary needs including modified textures and allergies.
• Manage kitchen operations including stock management and hygiene standards.

What is required from you?

• A minimum of 12 months on your right to work

This role is two 8-hour shifts per week working from 7.00am - 3.00pm on a two-week rolling rota as follows:

• Week 1: Saturday and Sunday
• Week 2: Wednesday and Thursday

A day in the life of a Cook

• Menu planning: Collaborating with the home manager and residents' requests and wishes, you will be able to develop and implement menu ideas. Our homes are always having themed days and events where you can showcase your skills and creativity.
• Understanding dietary needs: You will work closely with the wider staff to ensure we are meeting our residents' specific nutritional and dietary needs including modified food textures and allergies.
• Kitchen Management: You will be the main point of contact for the kitchen and responsible for the day-to-day running of stock management and hygiene standards.
