Job summary

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust (DCHS) is seeking an experienced Cook to join the catering team at Staveley Health Centre. You will prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals, ensuring high standards, safety and compliance with dietary needs for patients.

You will work closely with clinical and catering colleagues to provide meals at the right time and ensure quality and safety across multiple sites in Derbyshire and Derby.

Qualifications

  • City and Guilds NVQ 3 or equivalent in hospitality and catering.
  • Basic Food Hygiene.
  • Knowledge of catering safety and hygiene standards.
  • Knowledge of portion control and nutrition.
  • Experience in a catering environment with a range of meals.

Responsibilities

Job overview

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Cook to join our catering team at Staveley Health Centre, playing an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing and overall patient experience through the delivery of a high-quality catering service.

Looking for someone to work every other weekend.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of nutritious and appetising meals, ensuring that food is produced safely, presented to a high standard and meets individual patient dietary requirements, including therapeutic and special diets. or working with a degree of responsibility and initiative, the Cook will ensure compliance with food hygiene legislation, temperature controls and safe systems of work, while maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and food safety. You will work closely with clinical and catering colleagues, providing advice and information on menus and dietary needs and acting as a key link between the catering service and clinical area to ensure patients receive the right meal, at the right time and to the right standard.

  • Knowledge of work procedures, practices and equipment for a catering service including advanced food hygiene processes
  • Previous experience within a catering environment with a range of meals
  • Knowledge of portion control and importance of nutrition

  • Experience of working with the client group relevant to the setting.
  • Experience of leading others
  • Knowledge and understanding of special dietary and cultural needs, including planning appropriate menus
