Job summary

Stepping Stones NI is hiring a Cook for The Courtyard Café in Lisburn. You will prepare high-quality meals and bakery items while supporting adults with learning disabilities in a welcoming environment.

Key duties include menu planning, stock control, and mentoring staff. The role involves helping deliver great customer service and may involve deputising for the Café Manager. Permanent, full-time position.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds 706 / 1&2 (or equivalent).
• At least 3 years experience as a cook in a busy catering environment.
• Knowledge of Health and safety procedures including COSHH and HACCP.
• Understanding of barriers facing people with a learning disability.

• Support menu planning, stock control, deliveries and reducing food waste.

You will play an important role in creating a welcoming café experience, helping individuals develop skills, confidence and independence within a catering setting.

• Work alongside and mentor team members with learning disabilities, providing guidance and encouragement.

Requirements

• City and Guilds 706 / 1&2 (or equivalent) or above
• At least 3 years experience as a cook in a busy catering environment
• Sound knowledge of Health and safety Procedures including COSHH and HACCP
• Display an understanding of the barriers facing people with a learning disability

Desired Criteria

• Intermediate food Hygiene Certificate or willing to work towards same
• Experience of working with adults with a Learning Disability
