Job summary

amicable is seeking an experienced Conveyancing Solicitor to join as it builds amicable Legal. You will run files from day one and shape the service, processes, technology and safeguards behind it, focusing on transfers between couples after divorce or separation.

You will handle freehold and leasehold transfer of equity with minimal supervision, working closely with the family team and clients. This is a rare chance to design a new practice within an established group.

Qualifications

• 8+ years PQE in residential conveyancing.

• Strong technical understanding of English and Welsh conveyancing expectations.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Conveyancing Solicitor to join us at the beginning and help build amicable Legal.

You’ll be running files from day one, but you’ll also be helping us work out how the firm should operate, what we automate, what we don’t, which processes are genuinely useful and which bits of transferring property after divorce or separation we can do better.

The conveyancing work will be focussed on transfers between couples when they divorce or separate. It sits naturally alongside our family work and helps people move on to the next chapter.

You’ll be key in helping us design how this service runs - the process, thetechnologyand the safeguards behind it.You’llhandle freehold and leasehold transfer of equity cases with minimal supervision, working closely with our family team and, often, with both people in a separating couple.

This is a chance to build a conveyancing service from scratch, do it properly, and do it in a kinder way - with the backing of an established group behind you.You’llbe instrumental in designingthe process and the tools, rather thanfitting intosomeone else's.

This role is hybrid working from our London office.

Key Responsibilities

As a Conveyancing Solicitor, you will:

• Handle freehold and leasehold transfer of equity cases with minimal supervision
• Lead our conveyancing service, working closely with the family team and often with both people in a separating couple
• Help design the process,technologyand safeguards behind a new conveyancing service
• Build the service from scratch, with the freedom to shape the tools and process rather than inherit someone else's
• Support people to move on to their next chapter, with care and clarity at every step

About You

• At least 8 years' PQEin residential conveyancing. Experience of working with peoplefollowing divorceor separation is essential. You need to be comfortable running your own files.
• Excellenttechnical skills and strong knowledge of residential conveyancing in England and Wales, including the ability to handle freehold and leasehold transfer of equity cases with minimalsupervision.
• You run your own files with minimalsupervision, you'llbe dealing directly withclients. We’rea small team, so you need to be equally comfortable getting on with things yourself and working closely with others.
• Good understanding of technology, ideally,you'rethe person in your current firm whoactually works out the case management system or writes the automation everyone else then uses.You're comfortable using AI, but sceptical enough to know when it's producing plausible nonsense.
• A real appetite for running cases differently, you'llbe testing and shaping ourtechnologyand we expect you to have opinions about it.You'll spot ways to improve how we run files and, sometimes,you'll just go and implement them. If you fundamentally believe the wayyou'vealways run aproperty transferis the way it should always be done, this probably isn't the job for you.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and a changing job, not every process or system will be in place when you arrive. Oftenyou'llbe the person creating it. One dayyou'llbe deep in a transfer; the next you might be testing a tool, rewriting atemplateor sitting with the product team.
