Are you a law graduate or an aspiring legal professional looking to build a career in property law?

A growing specialist property law firm in Barnsley is looking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant to join its expanding practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to gain practical legal experience, learn directly from an experienced legal professional and develop towards a more advanced role over time.

Previous conveyancing experience is welcome but not essential. The firm is happy to consider recent graduates and candidates with some relevant experience who have the right attitude, are keen to learn and want to build a long-term career in the legal sector.

The Role

Initially, the position will focus on supporting the day to day within the department. You will work closely with the firm's founder, receiving hands on training and guidance while developing your understanding of property law and the conveyancing process.

As your knowledge and confidence grow, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and progress into more advanced legal work, with the longer term possibility of working towards qualification.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Opening new files and completing initial administrative tasks
  • Providing updates on matters and helping maintain clear communication
  • Supporting the day-to-day administration of the property law practice
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring files are kept up to date
  • Learning the firm's systems, processes and working methods
  • Taking on additional duties and more advanced work as your experience develops
About You

You will ideally have:
  • A law degree or some experience in a legal environment
  • Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and a professional approach
  • A willingness to learn and take direction from an experienced legal professional
  • A positive attitude towards starting with administrative responsibilities and developing from there
  • A genuine interest in building a long-term career in property law

Previous conveyancing experience is not essential. The firm is more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, commitment and potential to develop.

This is an opportunity to join a growing specialist property law practice where you can learn from the ground up, gain valuable hands-on experience and work towards developing a career in conveyancing.
