Job summary

Mallory Pryce Recruitment is seeking an experienced Head of Conveyancing to lead a 10-strong residential property team within a well-established, multi-practice firm specialising in property and private client. The role offers strategic direction, oversight of service delivery, and responsibilities across client service, compliance and commercial performance for a varied caseload.

You will guide workflows, monitor KPIs, provide technical support on titles, leases, SDLT and registry obligations,

Qualifications

Qualified solicitor, licensed conveyancer or legal executive with substantial post-qualification experience in residential conveyancing.
Experience leading a residential property team within a solicitors’ firm or equivalent practice.
Strong knowledge of residential property law, conveyancing procedures and SDLT processes.
Commercial property experience is desirable but not essential.
Commercially aware with experience monitoring performance and service delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead, manage and develop the conveyancing team with clear direction and mentorship.
Review workflows, precedents and standards to ensure timely progression from instruction to completion.
Monitor workloads, financial targets, billing and KPIs, supporting objectives.
Provide technical guidance on contracts, title reports, leases, transfers and SDLT.
Oversee exchange, completion and post-completion, ensuring compliance and deadlines.
Identify and manage legal, regulatory and operational risks with AML and SRA compliance.
Manage escalated client queries and maintain relationships with clients and professional contacts.
Collaborate with other departments on strategic planning, recruitment and service improvements.
