Job summary

Astute is recruiting a Controls, Instrumentation and Cyber Security Technician for a site in Cheshire, United Kingdom, with a starting salary up to £60,000 and a strong benefits package including private medical and dental insurance.

You will support the Lead C&I Engineer, diagnose faults in field instrumentation and control equipment, perform planned and corrective maintenance across C&I and automation systems, and assist the OT Security Engineer to reduce cyber security risks.

Qualifications

• Technical apprenticeship or equivalent experience in C&I, Automation, Control Engineering or Cyber Security.
• Proven C&I, instrumentation or industrial automation maintenance experience.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, signal conditioning equipment and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge of OT security including network segmentation, access control, patching and logging.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead C&I Engineer in delivering the site's maintenance strategy.
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve faults in field instrumentation and control equipment.
• Carry out planned and corrective maintenance across C&I and industrial automation systems.
• Support OT Security Engineer with maintenance activities to reduce cyber security risks.
• Undertake routine OT security activities including patching, antivirus updates and application control.
• Maintain OT asset inventories, network diagrams and technical records.
• Prepare maintenance orders and deliver packages of work.
• Support OT security infrastructure maintenance and implement corrective actions from audits.
• Provide technical support during OT and cyber-related incidents.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, panel schematics, loop drawings and cause-and-effect charts.

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading energy company in the UK to recruit a Controls, Instrumentation and Cyber Security Technician for their site in Cheshire.

The Controls, Instrumentation and Cyber Security Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £60,000 plus a great benefits package including private medical & dental insurance.

Responsibilities and duties of the Controls, Instrumentation and Cyber Security Technician role

Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager you will:

• Support the Lead C&I Engineer in delivering the site's Control and Instrumentation Maintenance and Engineering Strategy.
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve faults affecting field instrumentation and control equipment.
• Carry out planned and corrective maintenance across C&I and industrial automation systems.
• Support the OT Security Engineer with maintenance activities designed to reduce cyber security risks.
• Undertake routine OT security activities including patching, antivirus updates and application control.
• Maintain OT asset inventories, network diagrams and technical records.
• Prepare maintenance orders and deliver packages of work within your area of competence.
• Support the operation and maintenance of OT security infrastructure and implement corrective actions from audits and assessments.
• Provide technical support during OT and cyber-related incidents, including fault finding and corrective actions.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, panel schematics, loop drawings, logic diagrams and cause-and-effect charts.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Technical apprenticeship with Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in C&I, Automation, Control Engineering or Cyber Security.
• Proven C&I, instrumentation or industrial automation maintenance experience.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, signal conditioning equipment and industrial control systems.
• Working knowledge of DCS, process control principles and OT security, including network segmentation, access control, patching and logging.
• Experience troubleshooting PLC/DCS systems is desirable, particularly ABB 800xA. COMPEX, Functional Safety and DSEAR experience would also be advantageous.
