Job summary

Staffline is seeking a reliable Controls Engineer to join our client’s team in Chichester. The role focuses on programming, troubleshooting and optimising PLC and HMI for automated paint processes to ensure maximum uptime in a high-volume facility.

You will work a rotating early/late pattern, Monday to Friday, up to 45 hours per week, with on-site support from Staffline. The position offers an hourly rate up to £24.28 and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, automation, mechatronics, or controls engineering.
• 3-5 years of controls engineering experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
• Direct experience in automotive paint shop or chemical processing plant is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid-response technical support for automated spray booths, ovens, conveyors, AGVs, and material mixing rooms.
• Perform regular backups and manage version control for PLC programs and robotic configurations.
• Modify and write PLC and HMI code to improve cycle times.
• Create and maintain body routing within the controls system in the paint shop.
• Manage controls-related upgrades, equipment installations, and commissioning of new paint technologies.
