About the role
The Engineer will develop software and hardware applications supporting Draeger manufacturing at Blyth, including solutions for automated assembly, functional testing, and production monitoring. The Engineer will gain expert knowledge of the company’s products and systems to support these developments.
Design, realize, document, and maintain robust, user-friendly software and hardware solutions that meet functionality and performance requirements for Draeger manufacturing processes.
Description of duties
- Collaborate with project, manufacturing, test equipment, in-service personnel, and stakeholders to gather requirements.
- Create software and hardware requirements and specifications.
- Develop schedules and budgets for test system solutions.
- Design instrumentation implementations and generate LabVIEW software code, following revision control and review procedures.
- Propose and implement best practices in production development techniques.
- Contribute to strategic planning and future targets.
- Assist in training and guiding apprentices, operators, and others as needed.
- Participate in training and development activities.
- Occasionally travel for equipment inspections, training, and remote site support.
- Manage production test solutions throughout their lifecycle, including upgrades of legacy systems.
- Create technical files with hardware/software info, spares, and maintenance details.

Your Qualifications
Role Requirements
Education/Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or relevant experience.
Related Experience
- Design, develop, and implement control systems, PLC, and HMI programming.
- Develop electrical schematics and system layouts using CAD.
- Troubleshoot control systems issues.
- Perform testing, validation, and commissioning.
- Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron).
- Familiarity with industrial automation protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
Desirable
- Project management and technical leadership experience.
- Experience in industrial environments, Lean Manufacturing, LabVIEW Real-Time and FPGA, pneumatic systems, robotics, and motion control.
Skills and Competencies
- Willingness to learn LabVIEW interfacing, data analysis, database interaction, UI design.
- Knowledge of automation hardware, electronics, instrumentation.
- Self-motivated with good time management.
Desirable
- Experience developing automatic test software.
- Proven solutions delivery within budget and time.
- Knowledge of other programming languages, SQL, advanced LabVIEW.
