The business currently has facilities in Gloucester UK (Factory 1), Bristol UK (Hardware R&D Centre) and in Athens GR (Software R&D Centre).

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Controls Engineer at Graduate or Associate level to join our dynamic team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated engineer who is interested in a challenging role to join our dynamic and fast-paced technology deployment team. The rightcandidate must be passionate about developing automation technology, excited to try newideas and push the boundaries of current technologies.

As an iCOMAT Controls Engineer in the technology deployment team, you will contribute to thedevelopment and roll-out of key iCOMAT manufacturing equipment, working towards the firstfully automated, ‘lights-out’ composites manufacturing process. You will contribute to thecommercialisation of iCOMAT equipment, feeding into the technology stream with applicationsat our manufacturing facility. You will also be involved in technical support and continuousimprovement projects at our manufacturing site and with customer assets.

What will you be doing?

  • Own deployment and continuous improvement activities for automated systems, from specification through to build, commission and testing.
  • Writing new code for PLC, robotic and SCADA systems.
  • Modifying and improving existing code to improve system capability, repeatability and reliability.
  • Maintain a well-structured and commented code base.
  • Support commissioning activities at sister sites and customer facilities where necessary.
  • Bring novel approaches and solutions to the challenges presented by emerging
  • automation technologies.

What do we need from you?

  • Qualification in Mechatronics, control, automation or a related field of study; o Bachelor/Masters degree with 0 – 3 years of industry experience. Or HNC/HND with minimum 3 years industry experience.
  • PLC programming experience is essential (Beckhoff and Siemens preferable).
  • Experience with motion control systems, including servo-drives, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • HMI programming experience is desirable.
  • Safety PLC programming experience is desirable.
  • Experience with robot motion is desirable.
  • Use of Electrical design drawing/design package such as Eplan.
  • Electrical Installation – BS761 18th edition Desirable but not essential.

Standards and Languages:

  • LD, FBD, SFC and ST
  • C++, C#, Python, SQL
  • ABB RAPID or equivalent is desirable
