Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking a Robotics & Controls Engineer in Cheltenham to design, program and commission PLC/HMI/SCADA systems and robotic solutions. You will collaborate with mechanical and electrical design teams on bespoke automation and robotics, developing robust control architectures and performing build/testing as required.

A hands-on, proactive attitude and willingness to travel UK/NA are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to write complex software from scratch for PLC platforms (AB Studio 5000 or Siemens)
• Design, programme and integrate industrial robotic solutions (FANUC desirable)
• Willingness to travel internationally for short stints as needed
• Live within commuting distance of Gloucestershire for factory-based work

Responsibilities

Job Title: Robotics & Controls Engineer

Location: Cheltenham

Salary: £60,000- £80,000 (dependent on experience)

A long-established and respected UK-based engineering business is expanding its team due to continued growth and increasing demand. Specializing in bespoke automation, robotics integration, and special purpose machinery, this company is seeking a Robotics & Controls Engineer who is hands-on, proactive, and aligned with a high-integrity, high-commitment team culture.

Robotics & Controls Engineer Responsibilities

• Designing and programming PLC, HMI/touchscreen, network and SCADA systems from scratch
• Designing, programming and integrating industrial robotic solutions (FANUC ideally but not essential)
• Work collaboratively on bespoke automation and robotic integration projects.
• Developing control architectures and functional solutions in collaboration with mechanical and electrical design teams
• Perform in-house build and test activities, with periodic travel for commissioning and support (UK & North America).
• Engage fully in a supportive, high-functioning team environment with a strong "make it happen" mindset.

Robotics & Controls Engineer Requirements

• Be able to write complex software from scratch for Allen Bradley Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal.
• Be able design/ programme/ integrate industrial robotic solutions, such as and ideally FANUC
• Comfortable with factory-based work - must live within a realistic commuting distance of Gloucestershire.
• Industrial control systems and networks, including EtherNet/IP and PROFINET
• Valid British or EU passport - able to travel freely to the USA/Canada.
• Willing and able to travel internationally for short stints (up to two weeks at a time) as needed per project.
