2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship… we’re just getting started. We don’t follow the status quo, we’re here to challenge the competition, and we want you to join us.

The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to date in Formula 1.

General Summary:

This position reports to the Head of Controls and Systems or their designee; it is based in Banbury, UK. The role involves supporting all on-car control systems at race and test events, ensuring they are configured correctly within FIA guidelines. You will work with race engineers and drivers to improve and tune systems according to the team’s and drivers’ requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Promote teamwork and effective communication across all personnel and departments.
  2. Manage all aspects of race starts, including clutch management, in collaboration with the Head of Controls and Systems, VPG, and Ferrari.
  3. Monitor control system health and performance during garage fire-ups and track running.
  4. Manage differential, PU torque maps, and brake maps, configuring base settings and collaborating with engineers to optimize settings pre-session and during runs.
  5. Produce post-event reports highlighting faults, issues, and observations.
  6. Coordinate with Ferrari electronics, ERS, and engine engineers on all car system aspects.
  7. Assist in troubleshooting on all on-car electronics and calibration issues, with in-depth knowledge of SECU code.
  8. Ensure control systems comply with FIA guidelines.
  9. Send DTV files to the FIA for parc fermé compliance and verify consistency across cars.
  10. Support simulator activities, potentially including travel to Italy.
  11. Follow all safety regulations at all venues.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Controls and Systems or designee.
Education and Work Experience:
  • Degree or equivalent in control systems engineering.
  • Previous experience working with control systems in high-level motorsport is essential.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong technical background in racing car control systems.
  • Ability to work under stress and in time-sensitive situations to high standards.
  • Quick decision-making skills, analytical problem-solving approach.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work well with personnel at all levels.
  • Empathetic approach and ability to integrate within a team environment.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to assist others.
Equipment and Applications:
  • Mclaren Applied ATLAS, System Monitor, MATLAB, and Simulink are essential.
  • Mclaren Applied ADS, VB, C++ are desirable.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The role requires working in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment with the ability to prioritize effectively. It may involve extensive travel and long, flexible hours, including weekends. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive bending, squatting, manual dexterity, and working around machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.
