Job summary

Prime Appointments in Colchester seeks a Control Systems Engineer for a specialist engineering business delivering safety-critical control systems in rail, marine and oil & gas. You’ll cover the full lifecycle from design to on-site commissioning, with UK/overseas travel.

Responsibilities include AutoCAD wiring layouts, PLC code (Allen Bradley Rockwell), and SCADA/HMI design. Knowledge of Profibus/Ethernet and SIL-rated systems is advantageous; a related degree and willingness to travel are

Qualifications

Proven experience in control systems design and implementation.
Strong PLC programming skills with Allen Bradley Rockwell.
Proficient with SCADA/HMI and related control system hardware/software.
AutoCAD experience is essential.
Willingness to travel UK/overseas for commissioning.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed control system designs, wiring schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD.
Write PLC code (Allen Bradley Rockwell) at minimum.
Design SCADA systems and HMIs.
Hardware and software design engineering.
Testing, validation and commissioning of new systems (UK/overseas).
Review project specifications and develop functional design documentation.
Attend technical and design meetings with clients and stakeholders.
