Control Systems Engineer – Bespoke Machinery
Location: East Yorkshire (occasional travel in the UK & abroad)
Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
Our client is a forward-thinking engineering business that designs and builds tailor‑made machinery for customers across multiple industries. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, they are looking to expand their controls team with a hands‑on engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and working on unique machines rather than high‑volume production kit.
This is a great opportunity for someone with solid controls experience who wants to take the next step in their career. You’ll be involved in the full project cycle — from design through build, test and installation — but without the pressure of line management responsibilities.
Typical tasks will include:
Writing and modifying PLC and HMI software for bespoke machines
Supporting machine build and testing on‑site before delivery
Assisting with integration of drives, sensors, and motion equipment
Working with senior engineers on control architecture and system improvements
Travelling occasionally for installations, commissioning, and customer support
We’re looking for an engineer who has:
Background in control systems within machinery, automation, or equipment build environments
Familiarity with PLC/HMI programming (experience with Beckhoff, Siemens, or Bosch systems would be a plus)
Practical knowledge of integrating drives, sensors, and safety systems
An interest in problem‑solving and hands‑on commissioning
Clear communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
This role is well‑suited to someone in the middle of their career — you’ll already have some strong project experience under your belt, but you’re looking to grow your technical expertise further in a supportive environment.
