Job summary

April Recruitment is working with a reputable client in Sawston (CB22) seeking a professional Control Panel Wireman to join their team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on wiring bespoke electrical control panels and integrating PLCs, HMIs and relays to a high standard.

You will read electrical schematics, perform point-to-point wiring, and work with engineering and production to resolve issues. Relevant electrical qualifications are desirable, and a positive, safety‑minded approach is

Qualifications

Experience in electrical assembly and control panel wiring.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds 2365 desirable.
17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations advantageous.
Proficient with PLC systems.

Responsibilities

Assemble and wire bespoke electrical control panels to a high standard of quality.
Install and integrate PLCs, HMIs, relays, and other electrical control components.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
Carry out point-to-point wiring, inspections, and functional testing.
Work closely with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
Support commissioning activities both in-house and at customer sites.
