Job summary

px Group is recruiting a Control of Work Coordinator to join the Saltend Operations team. You will coordinate safe systems of work, liaising with Operations, E&M, contractors and third parties to ensure robust planning and execution.

The role requires experience with permit to work processes, risk assessments and site safety documentation, supporting a live, 24/7 operation at Saltend Chemicals Park, with on-site training and ongoing development.

Qualifications

  • NVQ L3 in plant operations/production or engineering discipline.
  • Experience in a 24/7 continuous process/production environment.
  • Knowledge of plant/process shut down & start up and of safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to site and operational strategy by linking Operations, E&M, customers and contractors to drive consistent safe work practices.
  • Be conversant with px Safe Working Practices, SCP procedures, COMAH regs and MAHs; apply them to control of work actions.
  • Obtain and retain SAP status under the px SSoW; coordinate permit to work systems for all site activities.

In the UK, we own, operate and are significantly developing the 370 acre top tier COMAH site Saltend Chemicals Park (SCP.) The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Control of Work Coordinator.

The Control of Work Coordinator is an active member of the Saltend Operations Department. In this role you will provide consistency in approach, understand and actions between Operations, E&M, contractors and third parties in planning, implementing, and controlling safe systems of work processes, procedures and documentation

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to site and operational strategy delivery by being a proactive link between Operations, E&M, external customers, and contractors. Driving consistency of response and continuity of approach to controlling safe systems of work.
  • Be fully conversant with px Safe Working Practices, all SCP operating and emergency procedures, local site instructions, COMAH regulations, and associated MAHs and practically apply these in control and safe systems of work actions.
  • Obtain and retain SAP status under the px SSoW. Preparation, management, and co-ordination of permit to work system for Site Operations assets and utilities (tank farms, cooling water systems and jetty operations); all Chemicals Park/project/maintenance activities and all Saltend Chemicals Park workshops, buildings, roads, and laboratory infrastructure.
  • Develop all safety documents; ensuring that the scope, location of the works, risks, hazards and workplace requirements are fully defined and mitigated according to the control of work procedures.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders and customers to develop safe and feasible methods of work in line with business needs and priorities.
  • In accordance with permit to work conditions, complete site surveys, preparations, isolations, atmospheric testing and CAT scans where applicable.
  • Ensure total work package requirements are communicated to the Safety Document Acceptor, confirming that they fully understand the scope of work and precautions that must be taken to carry out this work safely.
  • Regularly monitor work to ensure compliance with Safety Document conditions to satisfy that the safe system of work described by the Safety Document is not compromised.
  • Be proactive in identification, resolution and reporting of issues that may compromise safety or reliability, working with SCP colleagues, third parties and service providers to deliver safe operations.
  • Be a recognised focal point in providing professional knowledge and advice on the work control process.
  • Maintain and develop personal competence completing required development ensuring awareness of current procedures, rules and regulations that apply to responsibilities.
  • Continuously seek, suggest, and deliver improvements driving operational excellence in control and safe systems of work.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Have a NVQ L3 in plant operations/production or engineering related discipline (or equivalent)
  • Have previous experience working and contributing to a 24/7 continuous process, production or operations environment.
  • Have chemical plant operations knowledge including operation of valves, pumps, compressors, distillation processes, tank storage, and cooling water systems.
  • Be able to prepare, coordinate, issue and apply risk assessments, method statements, work packs and safety documents.
  • Be able to complete site surveys, preparations, isolations, atmospheric testing and CAT scans.
  • Have knowledge of plant/process shut down & start up in normal and abnormal operations.
  • Be able to read P&IDs and technical drawings.
  • Have experience contributing to planning of projects and outages to ensure safe delivery.
  • Have knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Completed the required company induction into this role
