Job summary

pxFairport Sunderland Office is seeking a Site Manager to lead site operations across mechanical, civil and electrical works, ensuring mobilisation, inductions and resource planning align with schedules and budgets.

You will manage RAMS, Lift Plans and permits, ensure H&S and CDM compliance, and coordinate the Project Support team to keep deliveries on track.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Formal Site Management qualification (CSCS Black or equiv.).
  • Site Management SMSTS qualification.
  • EMSS Safety Passport qualification.
  • COSHH knowledge.
  • Slinger/Signaller/Banksman qualification.
  • Experience producing Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Lift Plans.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to travel in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct daily site operations including mechanical, civil, and electrical works.
  • Complete daily & weekly planning and provide progress reports to Project/Construction Managers.
  • Review RAMS, Scope of Works and Lift Plans; identify risks prior to site work.
  • Issue Permits to Work and conduct site briefings; manage site records.
  • Coordinate Project Support to ensure timely deliveries and resource alignment.
  • Maintain H&S files and CDM compliance; lead site audits.
  • Manage client and contractor relationships; monitor milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate procurement of equipment and spares; support warranty actions.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Site manager to join our Fairport Sunderland Office.

The Site Manager is responsible for managing sites and Mechanical, Electrical and Civil site teams. This includes planning for mobilisation, coordination of contractor and staff site inductions and where required, ensuring necessary welfare, documentation and plant are in place to ensure site works commence on time and are adequately resourced in line with project schedules, budgets, and deliverables

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Site Manager will complete daily & weekly planning (and re-planning as required) of all site-based activities, providing progress reports to the Project Manager and Construction Manager and weekly SHE updates, circulated in line with current policies.
  • Adherence to and promotion of the ZERO Harm policies and procedures, including CDM and Health and Safety requirements
  • Plan and direct daily site operations including mechanical, civil, and electrical works.
  • Manage and maintain work schedules, reporting plan v actual progress.
  • Review and approve subcontractor RAMS, Scope of Works, and Lift Plans; identifying opportunities and mitigating risks prior to commencement at site.
  • Issue Permits to Work, Hot Works, Working at Height, and any other site-specific permits.
  • Daily Task Briefings, Point of Work assessments to site operatives, coordination of any Dynamic Risk Assessments, as required.
  • Collaborate and direct Project Support team to ensure site deliveries are controlled and sequenced to support installation requirements.
  • Record and manage attendance records/hours of site team, plant used, weather and any delays.
  • Creation, management & updating of H&S files & all site CDM requirements.
  • Manage client & contractor relationships.
  • Define monitor & report on status of milestones & deliverables
  • Conduct regular site audits and support site and process audits from the wider px team.
  • Facilitate daily team meetings and client meetings effectively.
  • Manage purchasing of equipment, plant, spares to ensure sites run smoothly.
  • Resolve any issues with regards to Quality on live sites, as well as sites with active warranty.
Minimum Requirements:
  • HNC/HND qualified in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Formal Site Management qualification (CSCS Black or equiv.).
  • Site Management Safey Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.
  • EMSS Safety Passport qualification.
  • Knowledge of COSHH.
  • Slinger/Signaller/Banksmen qualification.
  • Site Manager experience, with experience of having produced key site documents such as Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Lift Plans.
  • Understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Be able to co-ordinate work carried out by different people / departments and organisations.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications confidently and effectively.
  • Able to travel in the UK and overseas as required (expectation of intermittent travel).
  • Completed the required company induction into this role
