Job summary

CJS Recruitment are currently hiring for Contract Managers. The Contracts Manager oversees roofing and construction projects from award to completion, ensuring safety, timeliness, budget adherence and quality while maintaining client relationships.

This role will be office- and site-based, covering areas in London, Essex and North Kent, with responsibility for regular site visits, crew coordination and performance monitoring to deliver successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • SMSTS Certificate and NVQ Level 6/7 are required.
  • Experience managing roofing and construction contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and health and safety legislation.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety and programme.
  • Coordinate Site Managers, supervisors, operatives and subcontractors across live projects.
  • Monitor labour levels and ensure sufficient resources to meet programme dates.
  • Liaise with clients, Contract Administrators, residents/RLOs and other contractors regarding site issues.
  • Ensure RAMS, permits, scaffold inspections and other site documentation are in place where applicable.
  • Monitor workmanship and arrange for defects/snags to be rectified promptly.
  • Carry out inspections and ensure works are ready for client inspection.
  • Monitor variations and additional works, ensuring instructions and records are captured.
  • Keep photographic and written records of progress, delays, variations and site conditions.
  • Monitor resident/customer issues and ensure complaints or access problems are dealt with.
  • Coordinate with SHEQ teams and close out actions arising from audits or inspections.
  • Ensure client instructions are communicated clearly to the site team and supply chain.
  • Provide regular project updates covering progress, labour, risks, issues and upcoming activities.
  • Manage projects through to practical completion and final close-out.
