Job summary

Confidential in Ilkeston is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer for a 3-month contract outside IR35. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on site equipment, with a mechanical bias and some electrical fault-finding, supporting upgrades and ensuring safety and reliability.

The role requires strong fault-finding, the ability to read drawings, and experience with valves, pumps, and mechanical assemblies. IPAF and confined space certs are desirable.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer in industrial/manufacturing.
• Hands-on with valves, pumps and mechanical repairs.
• Basic to intermediate electrical fault-finding.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Strong focus on reliability and uptime.
• NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned PPM and reactive maintenance across site equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on valves, pipes and assemblies.
• Support electrical fault finding on control systems and motors.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Strip down, repair and rebuild mechanical components.
• Conduct RCA and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and upgrades.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Ensure work complies with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with site teams to optimise performance.
