Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer for an immediate start on a 3‑month project in Bedford, UK. The role focuses on developing a new product with 3D CAD using SolidWorks or Inventor, covering conceptual design through to detailed documentation.

You will contribute to a fast‑paced development program, bring 4–5 years of mechanical design experience, and show capability across full product life‑cycle design, manufacturing knowledge, and instrumentation or bespoke

Opportunity

Opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer with Inventor or SolidWorks experience to undertake a technically varied role in support of a key project.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a solid background in Inventor or SolidWorks to work on a New Product Development project, undertaking detailed conceptual design and supporting the complete project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

As Contract Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the ability to :

• Undertake Mechanical Design of New Product Development (complete product life cycle)
• Undertake detailed designs using 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Inventor)
• Concept Generation
• Produce Documentation to support Development
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will have;

• Proven mechanical design experience within a fast-paced development environment (Ideally 4-5 years min)
• Experience working on instrumentation or complex bespoke equipment/machinery
• 3D CAD - SolidWorks or Inventor
• Full Product Life-cycle Design Experience.
