The opportunity

The role is home-based and can be based in Birmingham or Glasgow, with travel to Project Sites and Client Offices in the UK as required.

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Contract Manager to support Grid Integration (PGGI) in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will have an analytical, proactive, and autonomous approach, contributing to effective Contract Management for assigned projects. Responsibilities include preparing contracts/subcontracts, contract administration, and ensuring activities are executed timely and accurately to protect Hitachi Energy's interests throughout the project lifecycle. Engagement with internal and external stakeholders is essential; the candidate should be professional, diligent, and confident in representing the company's interests.

How you'll make an impact

  • Provide guidance and leadership on contract matters to cross-functional teams, fostering a team approach to Contract Management.
  • Develop contract strategies aligned with company policies, customer requirements, and project execution plans, considering risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.
  • Identify the contract baseline, including terms, conditions, specifications, and other relevant documents, highlighting opportunities and risks.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of contractual obligations, including payments, claims, variations, warranties, and guarantees.
  • Verify fulfillment of contractual responsibilities by all parties.
  • Collaborate with Legal Representatives to develop negotiation strategies and support negotiations.
  • Assist Legal in handling disputes, litigation, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Work with Legal to draft, negotiate, and finalize agreements during sales and project execution phases.

Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, Economics, or Law. Proven experience in EPC power generation, substations, converter stations, grid integration, transmission, or similar industrial plants, with expertise in Contract Management and administration of various contractual agreements.
  • Extensive experience in administering standard form contracts, drafting contracts, and supporting supply chain activities related to subcontract formation.
  • Background in change management, claim management, and legal issues related to contracts, with hands-on experience under common law jurisdictions.
  • Ability to interface effectively with customers and subcontractors regarding contract and project matters, including change review and processes.
