Contract Manager

£60,000 - £65,000 plus car allowance

Hybrid - Remote and Client Sites

Permanent role Monday to Friday

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Contract Manager with a technical background in Gas/Mechanical engineering to oversee the delivery of contracts and ensure successful project execution. This role is client-facing and requires excellent relationship management, commercial experience, and technical expertise to drive project success. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing contracts from inception to completion, ensuring compliance, budget control, and high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Management & Compliance:

  1. Oversee contract lifecycle from negotiation to execution, ensuring compliance with legal, financial, and technical requirements.
  2. Ensure adherence to industry regulations, particularly in the Gas and Mechanical sectors.
  3. Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard project outcomes.
  4. Ensure that all contractual obligations are met, including performance indicators and service level agreements (SLAs).

Client Engagement:
  1. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  2. Conduct regular client meetings, providing progress updates and addressing concerns proactively.
  3. Collaborate with internal teams, including engineers, project managers, and finance, to ensure smooth contract delivery.

Project & Financial Oversight:
  1. Monitor project progress, budgets, and costs, ensuring projects remain financially viable.
  2. Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  3. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  4. Prepare reports on contract performance, financials, and risk assessments.

Technical & Operational Support:
  1. Provide technical guidance and support on gas and mechanical engineering projects.
  2. Ensure that engineering solutions comply with industry standards and best practices.
  3. Work closely with project teams to resolve technical challenges and drive innovation.

Hybrid Working & Site Visits:
  1. Work in a hybrid environment, balancing remote working with regular site and client visits.
  2. Ensure visibility on-site to oversee contract execution and maintain strong client relationships.

Key Requirements:
Technical & Industry Expertise:
  1. Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Gas Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Strong knowledge of gas infrastructure, mechanical systems, and engineering principles.
  3. Experience in managing contracts within the energy, utilities, or mechanical services industries.

Experience & Skills:
  1. Proven experience in a Contract Manager or Project Manager role.
  2. Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement, and compliance.
  3. Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  4. Ability to interpret technical specifications and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  5. Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Other Requirements:
  1. Full UK driving license (or equivalent, if applicable) and willingness to travel to client sites.
  2. Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure.
  3. Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
