Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience in contract management, preferably in utilities, construction, or drainage services.
  • Operational and project coordination with scheduling and field teams.
  • Financial awareness including budgeting, cost control, KPI tracking.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations in drainage and civil works.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and basic PM tools.
  • Relevant qualification in contract/construction/business; professional certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience in UK utilities or drainage framework agreements is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with clients and internal teams to deliver contracts on time.
  • Prepare quotes and cost estimates for contract delivery.
  • Oversee scheduling and resource allocation on site.
  • Track contract KPIs and manage variations/ renewals.
  • Support continuous improvement of operational processes.

DrainLine Ltd is a UK-based specialist in drainage works, handling everything from blockages in small diameter lines to rehabilitation of main line foul and storm sewers. Role Description

The Contract Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Glastonbury. This role is responsible for managing drainage service contracts from initiation to completion, including reviewing contract terms, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with clients and internal teams, preparing quotes and cost estimates, overseeing scheduling and resource allocation, and resolving issues that arise during project delivery. The Contract Manager will also track contract KPIs, manage variations and renewals, and contribute to continuous improvement of operational processes. Collaboration with operational staff and senior leadership to support customer satisfaction and profitable contract delivery is a key part of the role.

Qualifications
  • Experience in contract management, preferably within utilities, construction, or drainage services, with strong skills in reviewing, negotiating, and administering contracts.
  • Operational and project coordination skills, including scheduling, resource planning, and overseeing field teams in a safety-focused environment.
  • Financial and commercial awareness, including budgeting, cost control, KPI tracking, and understanding of contractual risk and compliance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to drainage and civil works, with a commitment to a safety-first culture.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and basic contract management or project management tools.
  • Relevant qualification in contract management, construction management, business, or a related field; professional certifications in contract or project management are an advantage.
  • Experience in the UK utilities or drainage sector and familiarity with framework agreements is highly beneficial.
The Person
  • Prior experience of working in a similar role within the drainage/highways industry
  • The ability to manage safe working processing at all times
  • Possess a good working knowledge of drainage across different types of infrastructure.
  • Commercially astute
  • Hold a CSCS card
  • Hold a health and safety related qualification (SMSTS/IOSH Managing Safely)
  • Salary up to £50K
