Qualifications

About the role

Join Our Team as a Contracts Engineering Manager – M25 London Orbital Motorway Project.


We have a fantastic opportunity for a Contracts Engineering Manager to play a key role in delivering one of Europe’s most dynamic highway projects: the M25 London Orbital Motorway, managed by Connect Plus Services (CPS).


This role offers flexibility to work from our offices in either Leatherhead, South Mimms, or Dartford.


CPS is a joint venture project with Balfour Beatty, Atkins, and Egis. We operate and maintain the M25, the busiest section of motorway in Europe, requiring careful planning to deliver over £100m of annual investment in highway infrastructure, alongside maintenance activities.

What you'll be doing

The Contracts Engineering Manager will act as a key technical advisor within the Commercial Team, ensuring the successful delivery of major civil engineering projects. You will assess the impact of changes to technical requirements on project costs and contractual obligations, working closely with operational, technical, and commercial teams.


This includes identifying impacted activities and evaluating commercial implications, with an emphasis on effective communication of complex engineering arguments to defend and enhance the company’s position.

Contract Management & Compliance
  • Interpret design, maintenance standards, and contract documents, assessing their impact on projects.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and amend contracts with clients, including claims and change proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and operational guidelines, resolving discrepancies during project execution.
Engineering Oversight & Technical Expertise
  • Provide technical leadership, interpreting standards and communicating implications.
  • Analyze asset management data to forecast maintenance and renewal needs.
  • Maintain high engineering standards, driving safety, efficiency, and quality improvements.
Financial
  • Prepare accurate technical estimates, considering design, maintenance, and renewal impacts.
  • Assess risks related to changes in standards and operations.
  • Report standards and risks to senior leadership.
Who we're looking for

Qualifications/skills/experience:

  • BEng, BSc, or MSc in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Member or Fellow of ICE, IMechE, IEE, or equivalent.
  • Deep understanding of highway design standards and specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing technical impacts on costs and timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proactive risk and impact assessment skills.
